In the Midst of the Voyage

Every voyage has a beginning and mine started from a small village near Ayodhya where I completed my primary education and my parents felt that the resources here were insufficient to support my ambitions. So we shifted to Delhi where my secondary education was completed at a government school in Delhi.
Being in Delhi, this prestigious university was a dream of every student and I was one of them but it seems like a mirage for me. The cutoffs and the race to get into DU that I heard from others were enough to get me in self-doubt that a boy from a government school would be able to get into one of the top universities. But my parents were always like pillars of support and beams of light for me and encouraged me to do my best.
This University as in reel was more Alluring in real when I visited my college on 15th August for Orientation. The Expectations from college were a Distinguished Professor, a Diverse crowd, and an Environment that supports Holistic growth, Good friends. As a Flower blooms in an appropriate condition, this college provided me with that environment to bloom. I got to know myself which I was unaware of. College does not make you just a scholar but a good and Moral person abroad. It nurtures the seed of Humanity within you. What does humanity mean? It is not only distributing clothes and food to the needy. It starts from keeping the idea of Us above I, whether you understand the emotions of your peeps and family, and whether you are versatile toward situations or not, to help someone without thinking about your Benefit. These are all things I learned very well till my sophomore year. College societies are the base where we learn about working together, taking on responsibilities to lead, adapting according to the situations, and balancing academics and extracurriculars.
The boy entered on the 15th who was shy, introverted, and ignorant about himself. I am unable to find that boy now in the ,sophomore. I don't know where that small boy lost in college, but now I find an expressive, conscious, adaptable, empathetic boy coming daily. I guess in this course of evolution he evolved.
As storms are a part of every voyage I also faced many challenges, whether it be travelling 4 hours a day to reach college, managing academics and extracurriculars, etc. But the visuals of the boy shifting to Delhi for his holistic development came into my mind which encouraged me to leap every mountain.
Finally, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Humanity@2047 for providing me with a platform to share my thoughts. I hope my words inspire others and help them make informed decisions for a better future.
