Hyderabad
I hail from Hyderabad, a city known for its rich cultural ethos and modern innovation in Information Technology. After years of arduous efforts and perseverance, my academic journey led me to a point where I was offered two choices – to study in the comfort of my city among my near and dear ones or take a bold leap of faith and study in India’s capital, New Delhi.
I had extremely little experience with the city , having visited once as a kid that too for a few days ; however my intuition was key in convincing me as well as my parents that this choice would not go in vain and I would definitely learn and evolve academically but also emotionally.
This prestigious university was a bold choice for me, one I made with a vision of pushing my limits and going out of my comfort zone . The university's academic reputation is unmatched, a fact agreed by the intellectual elite of the country and beyond and its diverse campus culture promised a holistic learning environment. I was drawn not only to its curriculum but to the myriad of extracurricular opportunities that would transform me to a more versatile person .The city of Delhi, bustling and dynamic, offered a perfect backdrop for such a transformative journey, with its mix of tradition and modernity providing endless opportunities for learning. The city itself is an embodiment of diversity, where every street, every conversation can introduce you to something new.
Before joining the university, I expected to be challenged academically and mentally. I expected the no-nonsense academic rigour and was expecting to be intimidated by some of the best minds of the country, however, I was surprised by the amiability and generosity of students and professors alike. There was no aura of superiority and arrogance, it was more of a scenario wherein everybody pushed each other’s limits to achieve their potential. This exposure pushed me to be more open-minded, critical, and creative. The experiences would stretch me in ways I hadn’t yet considered, and I was ready to tackle life’s curveballs.
This University has indeed been shaping me into a more well-rounded individual. The diversity on campus has exposed me to different cultures, perspectives, and philosophies, making me more empathetic and socially aware. Additionally, the university's focus on social issues, student activism, and community involvement has encouraged me to become more conscious of the world beyond academics.
Of course, this journey has not been without its challenges. The transition from Hyderabad to Delhi, the pressure of a demanding academic environment, and the need to constantly adapt to a new social and cultural setting were all difficult. But these obstacles have only made me stronger. I’ve learned to cope with stress, manage my time more effectively, and develop resilience.
Looking back, I see a significant difference in the person I was when I first arrived here and the person I am becoming. I’ve gained confidence, perspective, and a deeper understanding of who I am and what I want to become. The person I am now is more open, thoughtful, and ready to contribute meaningfully to society. I can say with confidence that this university is moulding me into someone capable of not just excelling but also making a positive impact in the world.
At last, I would like to thank the e-platform, Humanity@2047 for providing me with this opportunity to share my experiences to a wider and diverse section of people.
